American International Group, Inc. and its affiliates (“AIG”), global leaders in insurance, are collaborating with Opta, New Zealand Rugby, and USA Rugby to launch the AIG Rugby Innovation Challenge. Harness a wealth of rugby data and get it into the hands of fans via useful, engaging apps.
For the first time in the history of the game, AIG is offering software developers access to comprehensive AIG Opta Rugby Data– including stadium location feeds, team and player performance statistics, match statistics, and numerous other rich data feeds – free of charge.
Use this data to create innovative apps that promote rugby awareness and engagement around the world and get people excited about this great global sport!
Eligibility
Participants: Individuals who have reached the age of majority at the time of entry in their jurisdiction; Teams of eligible individuals; Organizations (up to 50 employees).
Large Organization Participants: Organizations with over 50 employees may compete for the non-cash AIG Recognition Award.
Requirements
What to create: (1) a functioning app which utilizes at least one AIG Opta Rugby Data feed; (2) a Youtube or Vimeo video demonstrating your working app; (3) one or more screenshots of your app; and (4) access to your app for testing/judging, such as a URL, installation file or shared test build.
Platforms: Android, Blackberry, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows PC, Mac OS, web and mobile web.
New & Existing Apps: Apps may be newly created or pre-existing. If you're submitting a pre-existing app (developed prior to this competition), you must make sure that: A) it didn't use AIG Opta Rugby Data before the competition and B) includes new features and functionality added after June 18, 2013.
NOTE: Submitted apps may not be called the “Official” AIG, Opta, New Zealand All Blacks, or USA Rugby app without written permission from AIG, Opta, New Zealand All Blacks, or USA Rugby.

- Create a demonstration video (YouTube or Vimeo) that walks through the main functionality of the app via screencast or video.
- Provide a way for us to access your app by including an installation file with your submission, sharing a test build, or by providing a URL where your app can be accessed for testing and judging.
- Submit your app by completing the submission form, where you will be asked to provide: 1) access to your app for testing; 2) screenshots of your working app; 3) a video (YouTube/ Vimeo) demonstrating your working app.
